I have to add one last post about our weekend with the Sweazys--because it is so noteworthy for Charlie! In the past, Charlie's "friendship" with Jaidyn has been more, well, forced by us parents :) Charlie tends to keep to himself when playing, doesn't really like to be touched by other kids his age, and generally locks up when we ask him to give hugs, high fives, etc to other peers. Just a few months ago, he would cry when Jaidyn tried to hug him.
I don't know if it's age, or the fact that absence makes the heart grow fonder, or maybe just that the Sweazys slept at our house for the weekend, but Jaidyn and Charlie REALLY had fun together! Saturday night we put the "littles" to bed, and let the older ones stay up later because they were being so good playing together in the playroom. Us adults sat in the other room, occasionally listening in on their conversation. "Here, Charlie, take this paper with you to school"
"Time to get on the bus, Jaidyn! I'm the driver!"
"Let's put the toys over here for a bonfire!"
...just a few of the phrases overheard. Not only did they play together, but their imaginations worked together! (In my opinion...very "advanced" for two 2.5-year-olds!)
And while Charlie may be another few months away from consistently letting Jaidyn hug him...he's already talking about visiting Jaidyn at her new house in Chicago :)
(and please, don't mind Jaidyn's lack of pants...per Erin Miller, "somehow the Sweazy girls always end up losing their clothes" or something along those lines! Just teasing!!!)
And while we're on the topic of friendship...the adults sure did enjoy two (very) late nights of catching up, cards, drinks and friends...
sleepovers=no need for a DD=tons of fun.
Thanks Sweazys!!! Come back soon!
