Home Grown Goodness

In an attempt to one-up my last year's gardening attempt (pots on the porch that were eventually devoured by critters), Scott built me my "white trash garden"...note the strips of old tee-shirts holding up the tomato plants, and the plastic bin to catch rain water!

Ok, in full disclosure, the grapes are the neighbors...but they said anything growing on our side of the fence is ours!
Potted Herbs off the back deck (easy access for cooking)Merigolds for their beauty...they remind me of my grandpa, who was a great gardener
And a last minute (potted) addition--banana peppers for Scott!

The carrots should be listed as "not pictured"--but I don't have great confidence they'll turn out since the zucchini are stealing the sunlight!

I can't wait to see how the garden grows...

Memorial Day we went to a cookout at the Sweazy's...and managed to get a few minutes of swimming in before the storms rolled through! Charlie, Jaidyn and Ian Miller had a fun time in the baby pool. Ian is Charlie's new friend and a fun addition to "waffle cone Wednesdays" as well. The Miller's are neighbors of the Sweazy's. He will be one in August.

500 Parade

Over Memorial Day weekend, we went to the 500 festival parade. My dad's company had a party at one of his buildings prior to the parade start time--lunch, balloons, cotton candy, ice cream, all the good stuff. Charlie was a trooper; despite the fact that he normally goes down for a nap at 11:30 (and the parade didn't come by our building until 12:45 or so!) he stayed awake for the whole thing...and it was a HOT day! Oddly enough, his favorite part was the airplane that kept flying by with an advertisement attached to the back of it...
