Playdough...and evidence of Charlie's bike accident

Old pictures...a few days after returning from the beach, we got out playdough and let Sam play for the first time (I've been lazy this spring/summer...easier just to not do it!).  He had a fun time once he learned that he really can't eat it.

Charlie is a rockstar on his balance bike (a bike without pedals...), I've bragged all over town (ha).  He rides his bike everywhere, LOVES it.  We've made it as far as the College Ave library (2 miles away) and back, not bad for 3 years old.  At any rate, his favorite spot in the neighborhood is the "big hill"...the hill on Washington Blvd in the 5600 block.  Being my super-cautious baby, he always walks his bike about halfway down before lifting up his feet and going for it.  The night we got home from the beach (read, 12 hour car drive) we went out for a walk to let him burn off energy before bedtime.  He rounded the corner and took off, right from the top.  Did ok for most of it, but towards the bottom he spotted 3 girls walking up the sidewalk towards him, and decided he needed to figure out how to stop (BAD IDEA for an uncoordinated 3 year old).  Wobble, wobble, wobble, crash.  Both Scott and  I knew it would happen before it actually did, but we couldn't do anything about it.  Result was a broke helmet, bruised forehead, scraped nose/lip/chin--not pretty but nothing that needed medical attention...just a little daddy TLC.  These pictures were taken 2 days later I believe.  One for the books--a fall off the bike is a passage of childhood, right?
